In today's video we are sharing with you Day 4 of our Great Mediterranean Coast Hike where we walked through Colera, Llançà and Selva de Mar in Costa Brava. We had a beautiful start of the day having our breakfast at the scenic beach and watching the sun coming up right next to our camping Port de la Vall. We got there yesterday quite late and it turned out that the closest supermarket is in 2.5 kms from the camping. And so after that hot exhaustive day we had to walk more in order to have a proper dinner. So unfortunately we hadn't much time to enjoy the area in the evening and went to sleep right away. But the morning was beautiful and we tried to get on the trail as early as possible to escape the middle day heat and at least being half way at our destination when this moment comes. We walked through the beautiful white town Port de la Selva, saw the info board with the map of our trail and started our way uphill. We planned to follow the GR 92 route as it seemed to be the perfect trail in terms of distance and it was leading us right to our destination Cadaques. When we were out of the town and turned to the mountain path we entered right away in the Natural Park Cap de Creus with its rich flora and fauna. It claims to have deers, wild boars, lots of bird varieties and reptiles. And we were very excited to cross it today. The route continued to go up as we walked through the area with lots of built old rock walls on the hills that were probably serving for agricultural purposes in the past and looked like crazy amount or work. Then all of a sudden out from a bush we saw a huge lizard running towards the rocks. It was the longest lizard we've seen in our lives and probably was a variety of a monitor lizard. We got scared at first confusing it for a snake but then we were lucky to see another one and even got to film it. At one point the route became quite flat with very little ups and downs and so it was very easy to walk. If it wasn't the heat that was burning us from above and having a little to no shadow throughout the way was very hard. So this trail is better to do as early as possible in the day. We got a bit lost once confusing the routes as there are so many crossovers on the way, but then we realized that it's not a big deal as it was leading to Cadaques anyway. But you might want to have the navigation around in order to choose the shortest route and avoid going over extra mountains. Overall the trail was very picturesque and in spring when everything is blooming it's especially beautiful. We got to experience the feeling of going through enourmous mountain summit and being able to enjoy the mountains views and the views of the seaside on the other side. The place is very unique in its kind. So in the uplifted mood still having much energy left we were stepping into Cadaques... Watch the full video here:

In today's video we are sharing with you Day 7 of our Great Mediterranean Coast Hike where we walked from Cadaques to Cap de creus Lighthouse in Costa Brava. It was the last final day of our hike and the plan was to get to the Cap de Creus Lighthouse and explore the area around it. And so we did getting on the 6 km trail leading to the Lighthouse. The day was overcast and we were ok with it knowing how hot it could get hiking in the sun. But we were still hoping for some epic views and great photos. First part of the trail was going on the car road then turning to the dirt road and then finally to a mountain path. The road part wasn´t too long though. On the way there were lots of uphills and downhills and the path itself was very rocky and unstable in some points. But knowing that you´re already walking on peninsula and from all the sides you´re surrounded by water made this trail really special. Soon enough we started to see the lighthouse up on the mountain top and it looked quite impressive from far. When we got closer to it though it didn´t impress us as much but the place around it was absolutely breathtaking. All those incredible rock cliffs, turquoise water lagoons, seagulls resting and behaving like home and yachts drifting slowly in the sea made this place one in a kind eco system. There is so much variety of relief and rock formations that you can literally spend the whole week there just grasping all that beauty and photographing every corner with the guarantee that every shot is going to be different. So it is definetely a must visit for any passionate photographer. And we were so dissapointed that we had so little time to spend and explore this place. So we´ll have to come back there at some point in the future. It is to be continued... Watch the full video here:

In today's video we are sharing with you Day 1 of our Eyne Valley to Vall de Nuria hike where we cross from France to Spain through the Pyrenees mountains. Eyne valley is known for its exceptional variety of flora and fauna in every time of the year and we were very excited to discover what it keeps for us in the spring time. We planned to hike through the Eyne Valley, cross the mountains and get to Vall de Nuria in the evening. We weren't sure that we could do it in one day and it wasn't the goal. The morning was very fresh and cool and the lighting was absolutely beautiful with the first rays of sun beaming through the forest. Everything was just waking up and there were lots of crystal clear water drops hanging from the leaves and grass. When we got into the forest there was a misty atmosphere with all the water evaporating from the surface. First we went through the beautiful pine forest and then came out to the open green meadows where there were peacefully pasturing cows and horses. The landscape was so serene that it was hard to believe our own eyes. It was an idyllic and peaceful picture of horses pasturing free without any gates, bright green colours around and water flowing down the rocks. We met lots and lots of unique colourful flowers blossoming on the ground and bushes. While we were moving up the valley we were fortunate to meet some marmots as well which were behaving quite carelessly and we assumed that they might have been babies born this year. So we absolutely can recommend this hike for everybody who loves natural untouched secluded places with rich variety of flora and fauna and lots of potential for great photos. This is a wonderful place to unwind and to be at peace. The path itself was relatively easy all the way through with no steep uphills and only when we got at the foot of the mountain range the path was starting to become harder but nothing extreme either. It was a very happy moment when we climbed to the top and saw Vall de Nuria on the Spanish side. The views were incredible from all the sides. So we had our lunch break there at the top and were ready to go downhill to Vall de Nuria... Watch the full video here:

up.gif Really appreciate you taking the time to document these hikes. The Pyrenees is on my short list! One suggestion: while you did mention that the hike was in the springtime, it would be useful if you included the date of the hike in the narrative at NWHikers.

In today's video we show you our way down from Coma de Eyne to the Vall de Nuria Valley and then on the second day the hike from Vall de Nuria to Ribes de Freser village in Spain. We did this hike in July this year. It is a beautiful scenic trail that is suitable for anybody. If you love being around scenic landscapes, meeting wildlife and enjoying the serene atmosphere - this is the hike for you! While we were getting down to the Vall de Nuria Valley following along the GR trail we could truly enjoy the breathtaking landscapes around us. From all the sides we were surrounded by the beautiful green mountain summits and we had the feeling of walking along the edge of it, that lovely sense of freedom that you get in the mountains. It was an epic downhill indeed. On the way we met one of the most cutest creatures - some curious marmots playing and running around. It was our first time at Nuria in summer, we've been here before in winter, and we were amazed by how drastically can change landscapes from season to season. We arrived at Nuria and found that there is an official camping site with plenty of people in there. We were a bit dissapointed by this fact but we had no other option than to find a nice place there. Later in the evening we were shocked to see a disco going on right at the corner of our camping spot. We weren't sure whether it was a seasonal thing or it was because of weekend but it looked very strange and inappropriate to us making from such a beautiful peaceful place a disco party. The next day we woke up to the idyllic quiet morning. Still in the dusk before the sunrise we saw some isards pasturing at the hillside opposite to us. So we had our breakfast at one of the picnic tables around the lake and we were good to start the trail... That day for most of the time we were hiking along the railway of Cremallera de Nuria - the rack and pinion train that connects Vall de Nuria to Ribes de Freser village situated down the valley. And we thought that most of the people were coming from it because there is no car roads leading to this place and it is the only mean of transportation there. But we wanted to prove that it is absolutely doable to get to Vall de Nuria hiking without using the cremallera. The trail had lots of stunning landscapes along the way with plenty of beautiful waterfalls, steep cliffs around and narrow paths. It was a constant way down that was absolutely killing for our knees and we really regretted that we didn't have any trekking poles on hand. Also we met plenty of people on the trail but that was probably because of Sunday - it is always the busiest day. And the season plays a big part too, middle of July- August is the hottest season when most of the people are on vacation. We were quite tired in the end because of the hot weather but we were very satisfied with ourselves. As we finally did this hike from Eyne to Vall de Nuria and then Ribes de Freser that we've been postponing for so long and being able to do this hike in 2 days instead of 3. We got to Ribes de Freser just in time to catch our train back home. Watch the full video here:

I enjoyed your video - It's like taking a 20 minute mini-vacation in the mountains. Too bad about the disco campground, however. Bringing good earplugs along is a good idea when traveling.

In today's video we are sharing with you our first day of Cami de Sant Jaume or Catalan Camino de Santiago. The plan was to do the 80 kms in 4 days and get from Llivia village in the province of Girona to Organya in the province of Lleida. It is also called the Camino del Segre, because it follows the stream of the river all the way through crossing the region of Cerdanya and Alt Urgell. It is just a part of the whole Camino de Santiago that can be taken starting from Pyrenees in Spain and moving towards the city of Pamplona where it joins the French Way. That day we planned to make around 20 kms starting our way from our hometown Llivia in Spain and to get to the camping site at the village of Isovol. The day started with our alarm not taking off and us sleeping in and starting late. In the middle of the summer the days are long so we werent really worried about not getting to the planned destination. But right from the start the sun was very high in the sky and it was already pretty hot. But we expected the trail to be quite easy as it was all down the river and going through the fields and not so much in the mountains. So we crossed the border from Llivia, Spain to the village of Ur, little piece of French land between the Spanish borders and then back again to the village Puigcerda in Spain. We met the Little Yellow Train on the way - the local touristic train going through the French Pyrenees. We got a bit lost in the village of Puicerda not seeing any yellow signs to guide us but luckily we found an indicator quite fast. The Cami de Ral route took us from Puigcerda to the next village Bolvir without any major challenges. the only thing we didn't like about it that it was an asphalt car road instead of the dirt road but it might be excellent for biking. In Bolvir we got lost in the narrow streets once again and had a hard time founding our way out. The marking was kind of lost there. But thanks to GPS we managed to do it. For that part we were getting away from the river and only then we started to come back to it. At one point, suddenly we realized that there is no tripod hanging on our backpack and we knew that it should had fallen down and we lost it. So we had to go back in circles several times trying to find it in all parts. But probably it had dropped down in the village and somebody just picked it up. So sadly we had to continue on without it. And it helped us a lot in filming us both and doing some different perspective shots. But we made a decision to go on and figure out the ways to film without it. We just never lost anything during our hikes and we were shocked at first. But it's life and it can happen to anybody. The trail as expected was quite easy and relaxing with the good marking overall, except for the villages. We lost a lot of time searching for the tripod and it was getting late. But we still hoped to get in time for the camping to be open and have a good rest there. Watch the full video here:

Hello, everyone! We are a young couple who dedicates themselve to creating photo and video content, as well as our own music. Our content is related to travelling and adventures. We are passionate walkers who love hiking, trekking and camping. Our goal is to promote the healthy lifestyle, to motivate people to walk more and care for nature around. This was our second day of Cami de Sant Jaume or Catalan Camino de Santiago. Last night it was raining and thunderstorming a lot so we got up a bit late that day. But we were glad that at least it's not raining during the day. We planned to make 20 kms the same distance as yesterday to the next campground near Pont de Bar. Our muscles were quite sore after the first day of the hike so it was more difficult to start moving. We were running out of the food supplies so we had to hurry up to the supermarket to buy fruit and veggies. And it was the only shop we'll meet in the next 2 days so we had to make sure that we have a good reserve. First stretch of the trail was going through the forestand we enjoyed it very much after having so many field road yesterday. We even met a squirrel on the tree that happens very rarely, so it was a great start of the day. The forest paths very very muddy and slippery so we couldn't move very fast. Then we met an obstacle on the way - lots of water flowing on the trail without any rocks or wood to get over it. So we had to gather and throw our own rock way to be able to get to the other side. And we did, just our socks ended up a bit wet but it wasn't too bad. Overall we met lots and lots of water on the trail probably because of the farmer's work. Then we got to the town Bellver de Cerdanya where we bought lots of food for our supplies. After that hiking started to be quite a bit harder with all that extra weight but we just had no other option than to carry it all with us if we wanted to eat the next day. We got the view of Bellver de Cerdanya standing on top of the hill and it looked like an authentic old village. Then we walked quite a while typical dirt road along the fields, enjoying the mountains backgrounds. At one point there was a crossroad where we turned the wrong direction and had to make an extra loop going uphill and then downhill. But there just wasn't any marking saying the right way, in some places it's just not there and it's quite dissapointing. After walking in the fields for some time we got out to the trail along the mountain cliff and the river Segre, it had lots of shade and we had a nice break there. On the info board we learnt that the fauna of this places is very rich due to the forest and river proximity. And the main inhabitant being the otter that unfortunately is nocturnal and almost impossible to meet during the day. We realized that we hardly met any people on the trail the second day around maybe because it was the middle of the week not sure. But as we enjoy solitude and being lonely - it wasn't a problem for us. After the town Martinet where we bought another bottle of water the last 5 to 7 kms were the hardest ones. We felt like giving up any moment because of being so warm and tired from carrying so much weight. But we made it after having to walk along the speed car road for the last 2 kms and got to the campground almost in the complete dark. Watch the full video here:

This was our third day of Cami de Sant Jaume or Catalan Camino de Santiago. We had a very good night at the camping Pont d'Ardaix, it was thunderstorming a bit in the evening again but then it was all calm and quiet. For the day 3 we planned to do the same distance again as all the previous days - around 20 kms. And our final point was the town of Seu d'Urgell in the province of Lleida. We did realize that the trail probably would be quite challenging and hard because of the mountains around us and the extreme July heat that was staying with us everyday. So we wanted to get ready as quickly as possible and to conquer the main mountain of the day before the midday heat comes. At first the marking of the way was quite good and we barely had to use our GPS. We were running out of food having only some fruit and chocolate left so we were a bit worried whether we have enough supplies for the day, cause we knew that till the end of the day we won't meet any shop. First several kms tha trail was easy and almost flat going through the forest and little village Pont de Bar Vell. In this village we met the cutest animal ever - little baby donkey pasturing with his parents. So we were lucky to spend some time with them. We got to enjoy the great views of the mountain summit and gorge on the way. Then we had to walk for about 1.5 kms on the car road having no signs of the way whatsoever. Only GPS and downloaded trail on Wikiloc helped us to find the right direction. It's just the reality of this trail that sometimes you don't see any marking and suddenly in the middle of nowhere you find the sign again. When we got to the village Arseguel we lost our track once again, having hard time wandering through the narrow streets of the old town. Then the way was going through the forest for some time and it was the best part of the day for sure. Lots of shadow, singing birds and very quiet - everything you need on a hot day. We had our snack at the riverside and continued to go up. The way down from this mountain was much harder than we thought, there were lots of falling little rocks down the paths and they made it very challenging to keep a good balance. When the steepest part was done it felt like a great relief to be able to walk on a flat ground. The rest of the way was mostly flat and easy (quite boring though) going through the farmer's houses and fields. Just the hot sun was striking our heads and in the end we felt pretty exhausted. But the reward was getting to the big supermarket and buying loads of food(way more than we actually needed). And with all the strength we have left we finally got to our campground. Thank you for your reporting from Northern Spain. I am not that much of a pilgrim so I rode the Camino on a mountain bike from Ponferrada to Finisterre when I visited. The route threads its way through the fabric of rural Spain so my memories are refreshed with your posts.

This is intriguing. I have a great desire to hike the Camino de Santiago in the next two years, Rumi

As for me, I'm put off by long flat walks--but my wife said the last day of this walk was very nice, walking to the ocean, but the few days she spent on that walk were flat and boring--and, for women, a bit of a trial since there are not many bathroom opportunities for women. Still, some folks seem to like flat hikes.
