tempted to get out this upcoming weekend (avi safe of course). we have a 27 month old that i'm sure would like the idea of snowshoes when she sees mom and dad wearing them.
1. does anyone have recommendations for a usable snowshoe for this age range?
2. does anyone have some shoes they'd be able to lend us for the weekend?
thanks

it'll be a short snowshoe for sure. but, it'll make a memory for her, so the hassle is worth it. she'll enjoy sledding for sure.

I found two useful items on winter outings with small kids.
1) Other non-sibling similar aged children.
2) A thermos of warm (not hot) cocoa.
I don't know about consious memories, but imprinting happens and forms part of their identity.

yes, she's not quite at the age of playing with others, but she likes watching.
i'm not sure she likes the hot cocoa, but definitely likes the marshmellows that come with it. she had some after xmas tree cutting last weekend and again at as xmas light display event.

I bought some of the msr snowshoes for kids and took my daughter last year when she was 3 for the first time. They were pretty awkward for her so I finally took them off and let her walk in the snow with boots which was much easier.
You probably won't get far at that age so take along one of those cheap plastic sleds you can pull her in if you plan to do some distance. They work great on roads for this purpose.

I have a pair of Sherpa Snowclaws I've never used. Probably too big to be of use but if you're near Eastlake or will be at the social tomorrow, you can check them out yourself. You can keep them if they work for you.
Edit: I'm not going to bring them just for the fun of it, let me know if they need to attend too.

Same as skis. We had a pair of Snoopy Skis for our first. She would, gamely try them for a couple hundred feet, then she would fall and cry refusing to go much further. We then put her in a homemade pull and continued the ski trip. Later when she was six or so we entered here in downhill lessons and she is now an accomplished skier.

My oldest took to snowshoeing at around 5, where he could keep up and do a few miles/elevation Before that, it wasn't so easy.
One note: Small feet may be far too small for MSR ones. They make plastic "dino" or "bear" shoes for toddlers, which are fun, as they leave footprints. Older preschoolers will fit MSR the best.

I have some of those plastic dino ones that my little one has outgrown if you want to borrow them. they light up, which is a plus!
that age is hard for outdoor activities because it is a real in-between spot. they don't want to sit in a backpack, and they don't have the ability to walk super far. Enjoy what's on the ground in front of your feet.

We just pulled my 2 year old son around in a sled while we snowshoed. He enjoyed it enough.
