Decided to start the new year off right and headed out to mailbox peak to work off some of the overeating from the holiday season.
I took the old trail up to get a bit of a work out and do the trail as a loop. About halfway up the hill the ground turned to frozen dirt, ice and snow and traction was a definite help. By the time the two trails meet there was complete snow cover.
The boot path was well worn and easy to follow all the way to the top, though, with one good snowfall I imagine that will easily change. As usual the summit was crowded but not nearly as much as during summer months.
