|Julia and I wanted to get out for New Years and Hex Mountain seemed like a decent option. We didnt leave Seattle until after 8am. After a surprisingly good breakfast at the Parkside Cafe in Easton, we weren't hiking until nearly noon. Lots of other people out. I skinned and Julia booted. We had snowshoes with us for her, but we didnt end up using them.

Jules just below the summit
We made it to the top just after 2pm. There were several other parties up there. Had we been up there an hour or two earlier, we would have had good views of the Stuart Range but the clouds had blown in shortly before we arrived.
first peak of 2019 (maybe 2019 will be the year I grow eyebrows..)
South Hex, didnt bag it
We hung out on top for 15 minutes, then headed down. I snowboarded, Julia hiked. I got exactly 3 good turns coming off the summit, then it was mostly survival skiing all the way back down to the car. Glad to have been able to get out with my lady on the first day of the year!
