That is simultaneously the stupidest and most awesome thing I've seen so far this year. The large version is 9 pounds ...

Whether it works bio-mechanically is one thing; the longevity of the moving parts will be the real tell, eh? Years of use under normal trail conditions - lots of grit, moisture, etc.

Ah, but it will give an "edge" to those marathoning, record-setting PCT et al thru-hikers.

Let me try to sell you on the patented idea of hiking uphill at high tide for a gravitational assist from the moon? It's the equivalent of removing almost 2 grams from your body, without dieting!
None of the gas stations in Wyoming had tide tables though.

It took me a minute, and then I knew where I'd seen this before -- Woody Allen in Sleeper (at the 4:20 mark):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1f4QvqtmKJ4).
I do think it would be better if the guy wearing the pack in the video was jumping in the air and flapping his arms while running like Woody Allen.
(Sorry, could only find Spanish speaking version of clip)

At first glance, I thought that shoe was supposed to be the two-legged person's answer to Oscar Pistorius's bionic running prostheses. Maybe it's the answer for folks who simply MUST heel-strike.
This guy would ROFL:
