Yesterday I was on the corner of West Roy & Queen Anne Avenue preparing to make my climb to the summit of Queen Anne. I got to West Aloha when a wind slab let loose from the persistent weak layer on Queen Anne Avenue. I was nearly killed.
Don't chastise me. I CHECKED NWAC. They don't cover Central Seattle

My recollection was about 18 inches dumped on us in Ballard that year (I don’t think it was waist deep though ) and we did miss a week of school as it stayed cold all week. Seems like the storm in the late 80s was as big and cold? |
I remember that winter. We had moved from Thailand (my dad was in the Army) to Fort Lawton, aka Discovery Park in June of '68. The snow on the parade grounds was awesome! All the kids (and a lot of the parents too) would sled from the flag pole down to the MP station. I still have great memories of that winter.

Yeah, but the lyrics are appropriate and certainly a 1950's skit. The second skit features Red Skelton, who was by far the funniest TV comedian of the time. He would play all of these different character rolls in skits (like Klem Kaddlehopper); many of his characters were a bit goofy, but all funny. During the skits, Red Skelton would often break out in huge infectious grins and laughs as he toyed with the other actors, trying to make them break out laughing, as they often would. That was part of which made him a great - maybe the greatest - comedian. I would still find many of his skits hilarious today.
If you are young enough to have never seen him back then, check him out on U-Tube. You'll have plenty of spare time as cold and now likely more snow will keep many of us grounded.

Even in his monologues he would get tickled and laugh enough to slow his delivery. He was one of the few comedians who could genuinely laugh at his own jokes the whole time. I was young at the time but I still miss that.

Glad I am in Idaho for the winter, at least most people over here know how to drive in it.

Seattle Public Utilities trash collection subcontractors totally wimped out. Everyone who had Monday trash collection got told they weren't going to get any pickup this week, tho' "no charge for extra trash next week". I get not going up the hilly streets, but dead flat in most of Ballard with less than 1" of accumulation. So with more snow coming this weekend, is it going to be another week we have to wait, then?

I was impressed with the garbage pickup guys here. They were actually getting out and putting the blown over garbage cans in an upright position to dump! In past communities, they would not go to such lengths. We were having some powerful winds on garbage day.
What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

No garbage pick up in the Quah today, probably too cold for bears though.

8 this morning, but no wind. I am wondering how my e-bike would do if I rode it today?
