So, you get to the Suiattle trailhead with a long forest walk ahead of you before climbing towards the sky. Ahhhh - everything's great and beautiful. But about half a mile in, that song in your head starts: yes, the super-catchy song. You sing other songs to yourself, you distract yourself with thinking about marital communication problems, but the sinister melody hovers in the background. How far is it to that trail junction... Mine: "Circle of Life" (An underrated peril of having kids.) And that darn "Havana ooo-la-nah" song. What about you? hockeygrin.gif

Since the last Seattle Youth Symphony "Four Orchestras" concert, it has been the "Bacchanale" from Saint-Saens' Sampson and Delilah. It's a rather wild piece, and if you watch the Metropolitan Opera's version on youtube, the ballet is also quite steamy! I have a grandson in one of the four preparatory orchestras, and was amazed at the high quality of the musicianship of all four! The next "4 Orchestras" concert is in late March, and hopefully the Bacchanale will be replaced! When a piece gets stuck in my head, I just let it run!

May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view.--E.Abbey

BJ Thomas "Hey won't you play another somebody done somebody wrong song"...I sing it out loud here in North Idaho Grizzly Country with a lot of emphasis on the "HEY"!!!! paranoid.gif

Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.

Traditionally, during the holiday season, on long boring road walks, I sing The Twelve Days of Christmas to pass the time, often changing the words to add to the fun. I also sing it when I am out riding and my horse pricks his ears up and walks in cadence to the song!

Italian arias. Only if I'm going bonkers though.

When I grow up I wanna play.

It's usually something I was listening to on the way to the trailhead, but sometimes it's some awful song I loathe. When that happens I deploy the universal get-that-outta-my-head tune, Theme from Sanford and Son.

What ever song I played last on the drive in. I am careful to pick a song that I won't mind being stuck with for the last song of the drive.

One memorably bad earworm experience happened while bonking on a long ride in the 90s out near where the Wildhorse wind farm is now. I was knackered and dragging through the sagebrush miles from the truck when "Crocodile Rock" started playing in my head on loop. 10 out of 10, not recommended, lol.

I like to sing Hedy West's 500 Miles when I'm out on the trail. Couldn't find the rockabilly version I was looking for, so here's the Hooters reggae style cover

Fun responses! Quite a song list already. Definitely a few gems and "gems" I wasn't familiar with.
