Strange: STEVENSON, Wash. (KOIN) -- The death of a man found along Forest Service Road 83 in rural Skamania County is being treated a suspicious death. The as-yet-unidentified man was found outside of his burned car along the road, about 6 miles east of Cougar, near Mount St. Helens. Some people spotted a burned out van -- possibly a Chrysler minivan -- about a mile from the Ape Caves and called for help. The van is badly charred as is the vehicle ID number. Skamania County deputies said there is no license plate on the van, nor is there any sign of a crash. The vehicle is sitting alongside the road in an open space. The man who was found was not burned, but investigators want to figure out how he died. "I think obviously it's too early for us to make a determination," Skamania County Sheriff Dave Brown told KOIN 6 News. "We haven't processed the scene yet to examine the body where it is. So to say whether it's a homicide or a suicide, we haven't made that determination." The case was first called in Thursday afternoon and deputies secured the area overnight. The Clark County Major Crimes spent much of Friday mapping and processing the scene. So far, they have found no weapons nor any accelerants that could start a fire. Sheriff Brown also said the county hasn't had any recent reports of missing people in the area. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Skamania County Sheriff's Office.

Update: COUGAR, Wash. - A man found dead Jan. 24 along a remote road near Mount St. Helens has been identified, says the Skamania County Sheriff's Office. The Longview Daily News reports the man, 24-year-old Brian Bodle of Newberg, Oregon, died of homicidal violence, according to an autopsy conducted on Jan. 26. Deputies declined to release further details on the investigation Friday and said it was still ongoing. However, the sheriff's office added that they don't believe there is any current threat to the community. Deputies discovered Bodle's remains after receiving reports of suspicious circumstances on Forest Road 83, about seven miles east of Cougar in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. News footage showed a damaged vehicle off the road at the scene where the body was discovered. Deputies are asking that anyone who was at the Ape Cave or Marble Mountain areas around Jan. 23 and who witnessed suspicious activity to contact detectives with the Skamania County Sheriff's Office.

Drug deal gone bad... (yes, I'm speculating but it seems to at least fit the hollywood-like circumstances).
