I started putting this playlist of late 60's and 70's tunes together just for a bit of fun. It keeps growing.  When looking up videos of performances by the "old greats" on youtube, some oddball thing invariably comes up in the suggestions column that got a lot of AM Rock station airplay back in the day, then the band disappeared off the charts. Or they had two hits at the most.

One Hit Wonders

The playlist comes in handy as background when I'm doing some tedious thing - like painting the living room or "deep cleaning".  Not recommended for anyone under ... maybe 55. Some atrociously hysterical early "music videos" in the mix.  But ... definitely no ABBA.  I cheated at the end (not a OHW), but it's an old fave - post Graham Nash Hollies.

I went back to listen to my favorite singer of all-time, Natalie Merchant. I knew Ten Thousand Maniacs in the mid-80's but the videos of her are amazing as she dances and sings with such an incredible connection to music that seems to course through her veins.

I listened to many of her songs and then again to the soulful, haunting River, a tribute to River Phoenix

That reminded me of the powerful sad song by Phil Ochs Jim Dean of Indiana

Home sick from work today so have been listening to music all morning.  Started off on a country and bluegrass kick including this really cool band I'd never heard of before.

But first, an old standby

Then my new discovery.  Really liking these guys.

And (now for something completely different) followed all that up with Shpongle's newest album, which I hadn't realized was a thing.
