“You can’t deny 50 people showing up with gloves and tools and hard hats ready to work [on a mountain bike trail], and that happens all over the country,” Wiens said. “This has given us traction with so many land managers.” https://www.bicycling.com/news/a26592798/public-lands-act/

As with everything else Congress does, this will make SOME people happy, and SOME people unhappy. Of course, the unhappy people will make the most noise.

"If destruction be our lot we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen we must live through all time or die by suicide." — Abraham Lincoln

That's some nice spin from Wiens there. Sounds more like 'LWCF bill big win for public land users. Details not a large loss for MTB users'. They (IMBA) can point to not-total-loss of land to 'wilderness' in this bill and call it a win... (The Recreation Area stuff may be a win for everyone except miners and the like, but I'm putting this in context of the past 10 years or so of similar changes.)

I've been watching this guy. He hasn't run over any hikers but likes dogs and donkeys. He's bike packing. Literally at times. https://www.youtube.com/user/istarusIG/videos In one episode he's getting a rack built for the back of his bike and the rack builder mentions being in the process of making a chainsaw worthy rack for biking trail maintainers.

What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities
