Took a solo trip up Mount Hood This past week. Despite the temperature getting as cold as -22 with windchill, couldn't have asked for a more perfect weather day to accomplish it.
The Pearly Gates were extremely icy. Handled it Just fine with two standard ice axes and some crampons, though I wish I would have brought my ice climbing axes along.
The Summit was bitter cold. Only managed to get my Balaclava off long enough for a quick photo. Either way, drove down from Everett climbed and drove back in just under 24 hours. Finally got to stand on Oregon's high point
Well done, and nice pics! I've long been considering Hood, but not seriously due to all the stories of roped teams sliding downhill, gathering all manner of climbers with them...but your report makes it look quite possible. I did hike part way uphill about 35 years ago....maybe 50' from the lodge!
