Every year I have a few hiking destinations that I really want to get to, either for the first time or a repeat of an awesome place, yours? These would be a first for me. 1. Blue lake( GPW)..overnight and fish. 2. Spider Meadows. 3. Twin lakes (Monte Cristo). 4. Helena Lake (overnight and fish). 5. Mt Pugh (dayhike.).

Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.

For me it's the Wallowas since I live fairly close now and have never been there. Hoping to visit some of the big ranges in southern Idaho like The White Clouds and get deep into the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness as well. Cabinets, Selkirks and Kettles too.

I approve of this list. I've been to all of them except Helena Lake.

I see what you did there. You gotta add Snow Lake to your list though. And Pilchuck. Maybe Lake Serene. (some of those are good hikes, just extremely popular)

I OTOH, was entirely taken in and smugly chortled at this list of fine excursions.

Pm me if you want (my) company on any of your Idaho trips, especially the Selkirks and Wallowas. Not sure when I will be back in Idaho, thinking maybe mid June for about 2 weeks, then early to mid Sept. for about a month, maybe a bit longer. I plan to stay in Wa July-Aug as it's too hot over here and there's better seasonal hiking in WWA.

Last I heard the Wallowas were still in Oregon. smile.gif I do recommend Idaho's Seven Devils, though.

At my advanced age, some of your five are no longer doable for me and my ancient joints (some of them replaced). It's hard for me to narrow down my top five favorites, since I do over 100 hikes a year--but my top five would be Camp Muir, the Chain Lakes Loop, Mt Townsend, Crystal Peak--and Sahale Arm/Cascade Pass.

Pretty much exactly my list, Brushwork. Hmmm I do hope to add Huckleberry and Sulphur Mtn trails too.

1) Tiger mtn. 2) Mt. Si 3) Mailbox. 4) Rattlesnake. 5) Snow Lake. These are really the cream of the crop of Cascade hikes - nowhere else to go. Really.

So true. It makes it hard to focus sometimes, which is why I picked 5, I will be lucky to get those accomplished. Of course there are others and some are Seekrit. Btw, lots of wanna be comedians chiming in, they should try harder though. wink.gif

Never been, never will. In my area we have Pilchuck and Lake 22 if I want to hike with the hoards. The scenery is usually pretty good, like behind the refugees from the Yoga Class...
