Went up Dragontail yesterday. A nice packed trail up to Colchuck Lake then trailbreaking from there to the summit. There were a few parties camped at the S end of Colchuck Lake going for Triple Couloirs this morning, hope it worked out for them!
The road is melting out fast I should make friends with someone with a snowmobile Colchuck Peak Triple Couloirs entrance Booting up Aasgard Pass Top part of Aasgard, crampons and axes were useful Witches Tower Summit our snowshoe tracks up 'gaard Snowshoeing across Colchuck Lake

Jake: If your feet joints hurt, you might consider taking hyaluronic acid capsules. Hyaluronic acid is the clear sticky fluid which the body uses for lubricant in the joints, separating muscles, clear liquid inside an eye ball, etc. and the human body makes and uses about 15gm hyaluronic acid/day. Scientific research with oral ingestion of radioactively labeled hyaluronic acid in animals showed that the hyaluronic acid goes into the joints quickly, like in 3-5 minutes. The "MD" industry has incorrectly claimed that oral ingested hyaluronic acid is destroyed by stomach acids so the MDs and health insurance companies have pushed hyaluronic acid injections (remember, performing a hyaluronic acid gel injection is a billable procedure and in the US, the MD business model is based on doing billable procedures). If I mess up a joint (finger, arm, knee, shoulder, etc.) and it hurts, I take two 100 mg Now Hyaluronic capsules and I am fortunate to rarely need to do this. I injured my knee in Aug 2014 and my knee stayed swollen for weeks, I saw a sports medicine MD in Sept 2014 who suggested hyaluronic acid injection. I went home, looked on the internet, read the medical and veternary journal articles (hyaluronic acid has been given to animals for years), purchased some hyaluronic acid capsules at a local store (Jarrow 50mg), and in 2 days my swollen knee was OK. Here is a refererence to a Hyaluronic acid article in a Czech veternary journal.
Bones have more collagen than calcium and joints are about 95% collagen. If you want to maintain your bones and joints, you might consider collagen supplementation. There is little collagen in a normal US diet.

Nice day trip! love the snowshoe on the narrow ice in road photo haha
last year we did Colchuck-Dragontail in early/mid April as an overnight with a chill first day. At that time the road was mostly dry and I skipped the approach shoes - my feet were tired that trip and I didn't even do the roadwalk twice in a day!

Yes, and likely to remain so for a while since there's still a lot of snow on the upper portion of the road. 4 miles from the parking on Icicle Creek Road to the summer TH.

Wild guess based on Ryan's conditions from late April of last year is that the road would be mostly melted out by that point, but who knows. As of 3/30 it was thin coverage on the first mile or so with a few bare patches, then continuous snow from there on. We were guessing there was about 2-3 feet of snow on the ground at the Stuart/Colchuck Lake TH.
