+1

Take risks not to escape life, but to prevent life from escaping I may not have anyone rocking my world right now but, I don't have anyone messing it up either.

Hey, they took my suggestion and connected Mailbox to real transit! I thought the parking lot shuttle they had last year was kind of silly since you had to drive almost all the way to the trailhead and then pay $5.50 round trip (per person) to use the shuttle. The new Cougar Mountain route combined with the Issaquah Alps route opens up some options for one-way hikes across Cougar Mountain which is pretty cool. I haven't done much exploring on Cougar, but I might give it a try with the new bus route.

I’m glad to see King County taking the good strides in advertising again this year; I have seen it in multiple locations. They did a very good job of it last year, and with new services and good messaging, perhaps it will stick around. The last time, there was almost no messaging beyond the initial launch; the effort lasted only one season.

Trailhead Direct shuttle service returns in June 5 with buses to Issaquah Alps and Mount Si on weekends and holidays until Sept. 26. https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/get-ready-for-hiking-seattle-trailhead-direct-shuttle-service-returns-in-june/

This bus service certainly facilitates doing a Squak traverse from Margaret's Way to the High School.

Because what we need is for these trails to be even more crowded.

If not now, when?

I mean without bus service to the Issaquah alps , everyone will have to go to Mailbox.

I never saw anyone on Mailbox Peak until they had bus service. Anyway, people who can't afford cars and $3.50 gas shouldn't be in my way when I'm enjoying my hobby.

Those trails are built for heavy use; I'd rather folks go there in summer than places that don't have the setup for heavy use. Besides, hell, I'll say it outright. This keeps folks away from areas I prefer to go in summer. I have a friend who doesn't drive; he's excited about the service; to him, this is his only option for hiking around there.

Mailbox isn't exactly a sekret place. In fact, the close-in I-90 hikes are perfect urban getaways. Other than pandemic issues, there should be crowds. But the parking lot shouldn't be so crowded. However, I remember when you had to look for the toothbrush. The trail was kinda hard to find in those days. If it wasn't for a big popular subject on WTA's chat site pre-NWhikers, Mailbox would have been just another forested bump for peak baggers.

Me neither. Boy, that bus is really messing up the Snoqualmie Corridor Wilderness Area

I-90 corridor hikes are like a sacrificial goat tied to a stake. It only works for a while. What happens if people miss their bus ride home? Sounds like an Uber driver's dream.

Whatever happens, happens. You make it sound as if the possibility that some person, some day, might miss the bus for a ride back means we should just scrap the whole thing! clown.gif I suppose it would be the same as if someone's car won't start at the trail head? You hitch a ride - these trail heads are full of people willing to help. Or, call a friend, etc.
