Unless someone else drives, than I am done with Wahington State. You know check that. Even if someone else drives. Easy pickings at the trailheads. Maybe a fund could be collected to pay for Trailhead Security?

I leave used condoms strewn about the inside of my car. A muddy diaper too. Who would have thought thieves would be such neat freaks?

Nope. But they will knock on your door at 3am, causing your dogs to freak out and scare the sh## out of you, just to tell you that your car window got busted out.

But in Seattle that's like asking them to break into your car.

Used to put NRA and USMC stickers on my cars to avoid thefts, then someone opined that thieves would break in hoping to get the tool that cannot be mentioned guns.gif

I usually put up a trail cam facing the car if Im going to be gone more than a day hike. Doesnt stop anything, but you get a good look at the A**holes breaking the law.

BJ is on to something. Staging a trail cam facing your car would provide useful information.

Waterman This is a copy of the note I put on my dashboard when you and I backpacked together in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness... I have 2 BUSHNELL 8MP Trail cameras that are, & have been taking photos of you and your vehicle license plates. If you are an honest person, just smile, however, if you are a car break-in-thief, you may want to get your affairs in order before you go to jail. Enjoy your stay, but be good. Because any vandalism or theft is being recorded. Have a nice day. General

FYI: I have since upgraded to 'COVERT"s" MP8 Black. The (Black) refers to the fact there is no (red) (flash) during night or low light conditions while the photos are being taken. You can be looking directly at these cameras and you'll never know your being filmed... most trail cams emit a (red) flash, this model does not. It records date, time temp etc... PS: I have not ever been broken into... Knock on wood.

That trail cam idea has crossed my mind also BPJ. Have you ever recorded vandalism of your vehicle or those nearby?

On the topic of trail cams, you can get ones that will hook up to Verizons 4g network. They are pretty spendy, as the decent ones start at around 200ish, but then you would get the photos live as its happening.

Unfortunately the trailhead for Duckabush, like so many other trailheads in Washington, does not have good cell reception. I can sometimes get a text out, but rarely anything else from the Duckabush TH. I usually have to walk down the road quite a way. Rumi
