Another bridge bites the dust-and another popular hike just became a heck of lot harder to do thanks now to a potentially dangerous ford.
The Canyon Creek (access to Jackita Ridge, Crater Mountain) bridge was destroyed by a tree this winter. The Forest Service should make replacing this bridge a priority or lest we lose even more access (like nearby East Creek) to this part of the North Cascades.
I did the entire Jack Mountain / devil's dome loop without even touching that bridge. Access will be fine without it. It just takes a bit more planning now.
Same here, found it more convenient to start at the East Bank trailhead anyway. But day hikers going to Crater or Jackita will add 3 miles each way if they start there. So that's a bummer. Maybe Little Jack will get more attention this summer.
