Speaking of Canadians - these guys tickle my amygdala from time to time:
And you can't go wrong with Corb.

More Canadians. Young quartet from Toronto. You don't see very many all female rock bands. I'd never even heard of them til yesterday, I like their sound. Coincidentally they are playing in Seattle tonight, don't think I'm going to make it on that short of notice.

Take risks not to escape life, but to prevent life from escaping I may not have anyone rocking my world right now but, I don't have anyone messing it up either.

Figured I'd post this since I just got back from seeing her in concert. She did perform this song, although she didn't bring her famous actress buddies with her.

Belvidere - Really like the Corb Lund stuff. Dead South is pretty good too - great video. Are you familiar with that great semi-local cowboy band - Wylie & the Wild West? (Wylie lived for a time in the Palouse, near Dusty; now back in Montana.) I've been to a few of his performances at the Tractor Tavern (Seattle); he's a great entertainer.

I love the Tractor! It's a hole in the wall and smells like stale beer, but it has a lot of character and they do a great job of booking. Seattle's home for Americana.

Since the last "Four Orchestras" (the preparatory orchestras) Seattle Youth Symphony concert, "On the Trail" from the Grand Canyon Suite (played by the group my grandson is in) and the last movement of Shostakovich's Fifth Symphony (played by the most advanced group) have been running through my head. Fortunately, not yet both at the same time. Problem is that I really don't like Shostakovich! I'm amazed at the musicianship of these talented young people!

May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view.--E.Abbey

Speaking of The Tractor, here's a few I've been listening to lately that I've seen there at some point. Kelly Joe is a Washington native.
Eilen isn't from too far away, from Boise. She's absolutely fantastic.

The new Prince release, Originals... Here's one for ya!

"These are the places you will find me hiding'...These are the places I will always go." (Down in the Valley by The Head and The Heart) "Sometimes you're happy. Sometimes you cry. Half of me is ocean. Half of me is sky." (Thanks, Tom Petty)

I've heard this one song a number of times on Pandora. Finally took the time to listen to some of their other stuff on you tube. Okay, but the first one just really shines.

I have a retrospective cd by Nanci Griffith covering her early years, but I haven't listened to some of those early albums so there's plenty of her songs I haven't heard. I've been streaming "The Last of the True Believers" thru hoopla, plenty of good stuff. This song really jumped out at me.

Our music threads have taken a hiatus. If you've seen any of the post Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts movies you might recognize this singer as the actress who played Queenie. She took a long break from recording and touring but she's back, and playing the Sunset Tavern in Ballard this week. Her name is Alison Sudol (born in Seattle but grew up mostly in LA), but she used to use the stage name A Fine Frenzy.
