DF's planted from seed gathered in the PacNW in the mid 1800's. They are now some of the tallest trees in the UK

My brother rode his Harley from his home in Colorado, to Washington state to visit me and his son/family, and continued to Highway 20, Washington Pass and beyond. Ended up in New Foundland, Canada, and back home. He was very impressed with Washington Pass.

Great pics Mike. Ya, there were some serious flys up when I was there.

Spent the night in the Paradise parking lot before our climb to Muir. Shot this. It's over 200 25 second exposures stacked together showing the stars paths and some mountaineers heading up Rainier. We had friends climbing that night. Their lights are above Cathedral rock upper right sides of the mountain. My wife and I have our own climb scheduled in about a month!

Fun. Is that with your Sony compact digital camera (one of the RX100 models IIRC)? It's fun to catch climbers in long night shots. Here's one of some folks heading up Shuks an from near Lake Ann last August. I was hoping for a more clear night but thankfully the Perseids still burned through the smoke that rolled in the afternoon when I headed up there

And on a smaller scale, here's a shot from last November - a detail of a cottonwood log in the Butler Wash near Bluff and Blanding Utah

Shot with my Sony A7ii. I had it pointing south most of the early evening hoping to catch the core. But I messed up my settings. Glad I woke up at 2am to check things. Moved my camera to this shot then. Another smaller mistake that worked out ok. The stars were slightly out of focus. Making any individual image not up to my standards, but this made the star trails much smoother. So this turned out better then it would have if the stars were pin sharp focused. Love your Shuksan photo. That is a really sweet image. Seems moody!

I wondered - that would be rather impressive for the RX100. Thanks - I ended up happy with it but was at first kind of bummed as the evening turned very hazy. But as astronomical twilight passed and I started seeing the shooting stars, I knew I'd get something interesting out of it. It was my first time leaving a camera shooting for hours while I went to bed.

I would think that is generally discouraged. Years ago a buddy of mine tried to stealth car bivi at Longmire and he got woken up and chased off in the wee hours of the morning.
