I've taken the 1/3lb frozen hamburger patties from Costco and smoked them in my Big Chief smoker, they're not great but they seem to last pretty well. I ate some last summer after they'd been sitting in a hot parked vehicle for a couple of days with no ill effects ("your results may vary"). The 1/3lb patties are 93% lean but I might experiment with 80/20 in the hope that they have a little more flavor.
Also, I contributed to a Kickstarter campaign recently for "The Carnivore Bar," I think they'll be available this summer sometime. Hopefully they're edible and not too expensive.

I may have to see if dehydrating ground beef makes a good base for pemmican. Pemmican that keeps requires jerky that is much drier than Oboy Oberto, particularly if one isn't using a ton of salt.

I made a batch of pemmican last year, it was pretty labor-intensive. If you could do it with dehydrated ground beef it would be way easier.

The Carnivore Bars will probably be in the same ballpark. Apparently some people have a lot of extra money to spend on trail food!

Beef tacos are worse with 1960mg of sodium, 85% of RDA. Not for those on low sodium diets. Maybe nextmile figured you'll be sweating a lot.

At $2K for a freeze drier -- You've got to make over 142 meals to break even with the lastmile stuff or 500 meals compared to the Mountain House meals purchased at CostCo.
Wait -- do you live in Suncadia ???

I just watched a survival show and guys were passin' out from malnutrition! I'd be very weary of this diet approach in wild.

LOL. One time I was hiking from Chetwoot over to Gold lake. I was pushing myself really hard. I had skipped lunch and I was dehydrated. I stopped to sit down on a rock and rest. I passed out. When I woke it was around 2am, I was shivering and very disoriented.

All you need are sticks of butter. There loaded with fat and don't have any of the devil's carbs.
