Summary: Day 1 Hiked 7+ miles past gate on mid fk snoq to Hardscrabble Ck Hiked to lower Hardscrabble Lk and ate/napped Hiked to upper Hardscrabble Lk and drank an emergency motivation beer Moseyed up to Big Snow summit Slept out under the stars on the summit Day2 Walked down to Big Snow Lk and swam in Snowflake Lk Hiked down to Myrtle Lk and out Dingford Ck

Hardscrabble lake basin
Hardscrabble lake basin
Upper Hardscrabble
Upper Hardscrabble
Upper Hardscrabble to Big Snow

Thanks for the great report Wakmeister. How'd ya like doing the trip that direction? Did you take that old side road past the old crane up to the lower lake basin?

I would think the reverse direction would be better. At least then youre walking DOWN hill the entire way on the old road. LOL.

Ooops, I forgot to answer your question. I wanted to bang out the tedious road walk at the beginning. The first time I did this as a loop I did it in the other direction. Either way works but I now have a slight preference for going in via the Hardscrabbles and out Dingford Ck.

I do roll. A lot. So I set up two rocks on the edge as bumpers. Sunrise view from my sleeping bag was rewarding.

Was the tree photo taken lower down on the Dingford creek trail near the wilderness boundary? There's an open area with big trees there.
