How many other species are dependent on insects for food? This is the first I've heard of collapsing insect populations. Seems like this would have a catastrophic ripple effect.

Sterilizing huge portions of the ecosystem for mono crops will have all kinds of unexpected consequences. Possibly mutant bugs of Enormous proportions.
