The newest prediction for devore creek fire expects containment to be reached 11-30-19. Are they just waiting for the weather to put it out for them?
I understand it's in a hard to reach area, but really last I saw was 150 acres I would think they should be able to contain that small of an area fairly easily if they just throw some recourses at it.

The Devore Creek fire from Stehekin at about 4pm on Friday 7/26:
I think their estimate that it is burning at an elevation of 8k is a bit high.

Glacier fire very difficult to extinguish

I thought that 8K was fairly hight to I'm not the most familiar with the area, but most WA large fuel sources are sparse at that elevation which logically would make it easier to put out. Just my thinking.

The Devore Creek Fire is located within the Glacier Peak Wilderness Area and as such has different management objectives than other "non wilderness" areas.
Unless there are structures or human lives at risk, management policy is probably to just let it burn.
It will burn itself out at some point.
No need to worry.

Thanks Ski I didn't really think about the policy side of things, it's hard not to worry when our forests are burning unfortunately.

After what I saw hiking the shoreline trail this spring, I'm surprised there's anything left to burn over there.

Ha... my husband just muttered the other night, "what's left to burn up there?!?"

mother nature sent a heavy thunderstorm through the area last nite and now we have a good start to the fire season, and of course it is in the most rugged part of the area.. locals are trying to figure out just whose jurisdiction it falls in.

Index Fire was smoking pretty well behind Icicle Ridge yesterday afternoon, but looked calmer on this morning’s flight from Wenatchee.

Was at the Index fire yesterday. There was a few small smokes on the lower edge of the burn. Certainly larger than the .1 acer that was originally listed.

Heard there was a fire by phantom lake goat rocks area. USFS fire quickly contained and burnt less than a few hundred acres, but can't find any official reports of it.
