Only if one isn't so wrapped up in ones own ego that one is unable to recognize the satire.

Fortunately we are not going to wait for unanimity to take action. I’d rather hear about pros and cons of various choices from many people. Don’t worry if one or two people try to lock things up or distract. We don’t wait for everyone to agree before we open a new city park. Move the conversation forward.

No one needs to wait for unanimity or govt action. Given the claimed number of concerned people, if they'd all take responsibility for their beliefs and act on them for real, they'd be the change they claim to want in the first place.

If You Want ‘Renewable Energy,’ Get Ready to Dig “Renewable energy” is a misnomer. Wind and solar machines and batteries are built from nonrenewable materials. And they wear out. Old equipment must be decommissioned, generating millions of tons of waste. The International Renewable Energy Agency calculates that solar goals for 2050 consistent with the Paris Accords will result in old-panel disposal constituting more than double the tonnage of all today’s global plastic waste. Consider some other sobering numbers: A single electric-car battery weighs about 1,000 pounds. Fabricating one requires digging up, moving and processing more than 500,000 pounds of raw materials somewhere on the planet. The alternative? Use gasoline and extract one-tenth as much total tonnage to deliver the same number of vehicle-miles over the battery’s seven-year life. When electricity comes from wind or solar machines, every unit of energy produced, or mile traveled, requires far more materials and land than fossil fuels. That physical reality is literally visible: A wind or solar farm stretching to the horizon can be replaced by a handful of gas-fired turbines, each no bigger than a tractor-trailer. Building one wind turbine requires 900 tons of steel, 2,500 tons of concrete and 45 tons of nonrecyclable plastic. Solar power requires even more cement, steel and glass—not to mention other metals. Global silver and indium mining will jump 250% and 1,200% respectively over the next couple of decades to provide the materials necessary to build the number of solar panels, the International Energy Agency forecasts. World demand for rare-earth elements—which aren’t rare but are rarely mined in America—will rise 300% to 1,000% by 2050 to meet the Paris green goals. If electric vehicles replace conventional cars, demand for cobalt and lithium, will rise more than 20-fold. That doesn’t count batteries to back up wind and solar grids. https://www.wsj.com/articles/if-you-want-renewable-energy-get-ready-to-dig-11565045328

Claiming something is a myth, does not make it a myth. The clue here is the cost...energy and effort = $$, and e cars are far more expensive than their comparable counterparts.

How easy is it to reuse the materials in large vehicle scale batteries at the conclusion of their economic lifespans? Solar panels too? Wind turbines i am sure can be mostly recycled.

Claiming something isn't a myth doesn't make it true either. Gasoline powered vehicles are cheaper to buy , but are more expensive to operate. PSE has a calculator https://www.pse.com/pages/electric-cars/electric-cars-calculator?utm_source=sem&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=ev&utm_term=price%20electric%20cars&utm_content=calculator&sc_camp=552E8EEA7354440CDA5C9C9E10968214&gclid=CjwKCAjwyqTqBRAyEiwA8K_4OzTDcoUF1GEIU07meMi7fhLcTeWsLZ9jpOvdQmG_m0ghT1ADbvAushoCcpsQAvD_BwE Also I like to think about hybrid approaches, e.g. rather than replacing a currently owned (and paid for) gasoline vehicle with a new electric car , buying an ebike for use for commuting and errands around town. My rough calculations indicate that such an approach will pay for the ebike in under a year in fuel savings. This would also extend the life of the gasoline vehicle considerably, saving on maintenance costs.

Fascinating! Climate change deniers are almost all white and male. Fred Singer? lol
Quote:
These so-called “experts” often start out their statements with “I’m not a climate scientist, but…” before launching into a series of carefully rehearsed talking points meant to confuse the public on the climate change issue. Many of them are well-paid operatives of organizations like The Heartland Institute, CFACT, and Americans for Prosperity, which take contributions from fossil fuel corporations — including ExxonMobil, the Koch Brothersand their company Koch Industries — who seek to delay or block any substantial government policy initiatives meant to curb fossil fuel emissions or hasten the rapid growth of cheaper, cleaner sources of energy like wind and solar power.
And nary a climatologist amongst the gaggle.

don't believe everything you think
