A friend and I made the long drive to Winthrop and up to the Billy Goat trailhead on Saturday. We hiked to Billy Goat Pass, then on to Burch Mountain and return. Most of that hike is through the Diamond Fire burn from 2017 -- at once sad and exhilarating. So many beautiful spots gone, but the flowers!

When I saw yesterday was the last cloudy cool-ish day for a stretch, I busted out late after getting crap done at home and wandered the Snow Lake Divide a bit...

Last evening's cocktail hour viewing from my deck. Apologies for the poor quality cell phone shots.
Looking down canyon (SE) to Edward Mesa, the Mole and Cannon Mtn. Couloir. I think the color might be from the Lake Roosevelt fire (?).
Looking SW at the NE side of Mount Cashmere. And the same view as the moon set over the peak.

I hiked up to the ridge top west of Nason Ridge for this Saturday afternoon. A swim in the lake as thunder rumbled, but only got a few spits of rain. On the way down from the lake, about a mile and a half from the trailhead, I met a trail runner coming up who lapped me well before I reached the car!
Seen from the west above Merritt Lake.
