I know the road is back open this year to the Conrad Meadows trailhead. Trip reports from June on WTA indicated that the "left" fork of the loop to Warm Lake, via Surprise Lake, was cleared and in good shape, but the "right" (north) side of the loop was an unhikeable mess of blowdown. There are no trip reports from the last 2 months that I can find. Does anyone know if there has been progress this summer (presumably by horsemen) to clear the north side of the loop? Or have contact info for whatever horse club (the Backcountry Horsemen maybe?) might have done work there?

I was up there July 4-6, but didn't use the right half of the loop. I confirm that the left half was clear. The spur from the top of the loop up to the Conrad "shelf" was like usual: deeply washed in a couple spots and brushy (but not quite as brushy as in 2016).
Pictures here, not that they'll help with your question.
ETA: Every time (well, twice) I've done the right half of that loop there have been quite a few blowdowns, but it was never what I'd call an "unhikeable mess." But that's a subjective term, so maybe it was.

The road is in good condition, the entire lollipop loop is open and clear, the trail leading up from the loop to access both warm lake and cold lake is eroded but in good condition for a climbers trail. The top is awesome all the way to Devils Washbasin and beyond.

Excellent, thank you Wildernessed!
texasbb -- I have done it once several years ago and it was not bad at all, but I think that is because the horsemen were clearing it regularly. But then the road washed out a few years ago. The road was fixed either last fall or this spring, but there was a few years' worth of blowdown built up.

I will follow up with people who may know, but may not get answers for a few days.
