Plus giardia takes a long time to kick in, it's not really a concern in an emergency life or death situation

I dunno - YRMV, perhaps; my 2nd bout of it kicked in within 4 days of my drinking the tainted water.

"Had to eat ants to stave off starvation"...what a rookie, one is not going to die without food for 2-3 days. My Giardia took nearly two weeks to kick in, then it was flu like symptoms, throwing up, runs, could not hardly eat for a week, lost 10 pounds, that was maybe 5 years ago, no lasting effects.

Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.

I'd consider four days a long time, plenty long to be dead if you didn't drink any water. This is one of those easy risk assessments.

It’s interesting these days having family members on SAR, getting to hear more than what gets reported out to the public. All I can say is that our local SAR are very professional people and I would have left those two right where I found them.

You don't find yourself standing at the top of a mountain without having started out in the valley.
