Was looking for a day hike to test my conditioning and figured I'd try my luck with Rocky Run on Labor Day. Holy cow, 28 vehicles at the parking area. On the drive in waited ~10 minutes behind 3 other vehicles for a Porsche Cayenne to back up ~1/4 mile to find a spot to pull aside. I always opt for the "trailhead vehicle" on this hike due to the brushy road but another good reason if you need to pull aside. Imagine the fun with multiple vehicles in each direction at the same time. Left the parking area by 11 AM and reached Lillian by noon. I was expecting to see more people at Lillian but most were at the Ramparts. After the steep climb up from Lillian I opted for the lower route reaching the Ramparts a little after 1 PM. Pretty much could see someone at every nook and cranny but at least there was room to spread out. Stumbled onto a TP bloom by the lake shore within 50' of toilet signage. Sigh... Planned to continue up to Alta but it was getting hot and the viewpoint above the Ramparts followed by a dip in upper beaverpuss seemed more appealing. Had the fortune to savor both all to myself. On the way down from Lillian I noticed a man and his daughter continuing past the obvious junction. I hollered ahead asking if they really intended to continue to Twin. No they didn't, and why wasn't there a sign? Might I propose... Rocky Overrun ->
I really enjoy that route. 28 cars is a lot more than I usually see there, but it was Labor Day after all. I'll bet the Snow Lake trailhead had hundreds.
