Hi, I'm a friend of Dave Rockey's, and we used to do a lot of four and five day hikes in the Cascades and Olympics. I left Washington for Ecuador around ten years ago, so haven't been in touch. His screen name was Drock, I think, but I see there is a Drock listed in members but it only shows two posts.
Does anyone here know about Dave?

Haven't seen him here in a long time. Have you tried searching for him on facebook?

Yes, I looked on facebook and he's not there. I know, from my hikes with him, that he had a tendency to get himself into some very dangerous situations on the mountains, and a couple of times he took me along on those. We only lived through it by chance. Maybe he didn't live through one of his adventures.
Anyway, I wrote and published a book and it mentions him and describes one of those death defying feats. I wanted to tell him about it.
Now I'm living very close to the crest of the Andes mountains in Southern Ecuador, in a more or less remote, semi wilderness area, surrounded by mountains as far as the eye can see.

Sounds interesting. Do you have any pictures?

I remember you, or at least your name, from when I was active here. I didn't talk about it much, but maybe you recall I was a student of a Chinese master in Seattle who was also Bruce Lee's main kung fu teacher.
The book is all about the man, his amazing abilities, and the amazing things that I experienced as a result of his training. It's all about qigong and some of the most advanced martial artists in the world.

Yes, that's it, thanks, Captain Trips, made much easier now that it's legal.
I see he was active up until a couple of years ago.

I remember Starjumper7, I think. Didn't you once go on a trip with no food, just some frozen OJ, and ate berries?
My favorite Dave Rockey memory: at the campout social we had at American Ridge Lodge back in the day, Dave stumbled off towards his tent at the end of the night's party, and ended up just sleeping in the woods nearby.
