Sat. 9-21-19. As the crow flies, this area is about 5 miles south southwest of Park Butte on Mt Baker. FR 12 is washed out just before junction to Pioneer Horse Camp. There's a nice waterfall east of the road washout.

We parked about 1.75 miles to the south and hiked down a blocked spur road which meets the Pacific Northwest National Scenic Trail (PNT) just north of Wanlick Creek. The PNT has received maintenance here south to the national forest boundary.

No bridge over Wanlick Creek.

It was a chilly but okay ford. Elk tracks in open grazed old growth forest and on trail.

There's a faint track on old roadbed where PNT enters private land.

Brushy in spots. Especially near trenches and berms.

There are some interesting features here like creeks and waterfalls. I watched a mink hop up a creek bed for a minute.

About 3 miles each way. It was an afternoon/evening hike with little elevation gain. A few dips near the spur road off FR 12.
