Spent a couple nights at Cassal Hut (one of the Rendezvous Huts) in the Methow this weekend. The hut was cozy and in a spectacular location. We loved it. Our only visitors were the cows - they'd come visit in the morning, graze on the hillside in the afternoon, and come back to sleep at night.
On Sunday we headed out to Copper Glance Lake. The 2018 Mcleod Fire burned portions of the Copper Glance trail, but spared the larches at the lake.
The trail followed an old jeep road for 1.5 miles to the old Copper Glance Mine.
The next 1.5 miles were steep trail through forest, open meadow, and recent burn. Before long, beautiful Copper Glance Lake came into view.

Spent an hour at the lake despite the chilly temps before heading back down to the car and a warm meal.
The neighborhood cows woke us up the next morning. A weather system had moved in, so we decided it would be a good day for some historical exploration.
Headed out to the Montana Mine, which was fascinating to explore.
Then it was time for the long journey home through incredible fall colors. I never get tired of the Methow, especially in the fall.
