Quick trip up Rocky Run today. I was hoping there might still be some fall color up high but the best colors were to be had from the end of the road. I wouldn't recommend driving the last 1/4 mile of the road due to the snow load causing the vine maple to crowd the road. It also made for brushy travel walking the abandoned portion of road. Was hoping to explore beyond Lillian but didn't like the icy conditions traversing the steep rocks. The prospects of getting back sooner for a bike ride in 60 degree weather sounded more appealing.
Tom, next time I will loan you my dog who likes to stick her head out of the window and bite the branches as we scrape by them. She would have all of those branches neatly trimmed for you at least for the way back.
