Still plenty of yellow needles at Ingalls Pass, so covered in snow. About 8 inches of powder on the Teanaway side, at least a foot as soon as you cross the pass. Slush in the parking lot. Snow falling all day.
The western larches skiing the road after yellowing nicely too.
Today was a good friend's first time seeing them, and she was ecstatic.

I was pleasantly surprised to see golden larch on the Falls Creek Falls trail in the Gifford Pinchot yesterday. There are just a few larch in the forest mix about 1/4 mile from the parking lot at an elevation of roughly 1600'. I had no idea larch existed at this elevation or this far west, and I was not expecting to see golden larch in mid-November.

They are Western Larch a different species than Alpine Larch people go nuts about.

Yeah, I figured they must be western larch based on the size and shaggy look. I always thought western larch were at 4000' or higher elevation east of the crest, probably since I only ever saw them at Blewett Pass before now. It was a cool surprise to find that they have a wider range than I thought.

Is there a single larch in somebody's front yard on the MLH? I saw a golden yellow conifer there a couple weeks ago. I wouldn't expect one to grow there, but it gets very cold, and I wouldn't be shocked if one could be grown with care. Also I'm not sure what else it could be.

I didn't realize there was a larch at the Locks. Looks pretty good. Better than the one at Kubota Garden, which I saw recently as well.
