Hi. My sister went missing oct 17th. Her jeep is parked at trailhead of hidden lake lookout tower. She planned to hike up to the lookout and come back the next day. Snow fell that night and we believe she is stuck up there due to poor snow conditions. We have had no communication with her. There has been 2 failed rescue attempts. We just want to know if she is there and if anyone saw her on her way up. She is not an experienced hiker. She is 27, 5'3 curly red hair, fair skinned with a hikers backpack and sleeping bag. If you have seen her on this day or have any info email heydawg30@gmail.com. We are desperate for answers.

I sent you an email. Have you contacted Skagit County Sheriff?

I just emailed you back. I believe it's just with the rangers and a rescue team. If you could communicate with me and my mom by email that would be great so we are both in the loop. Also she has spotty service where she is as she is up at the mountain. She refuses to leave until my sister is found.

Rangers and rescue team - sounds like the search is underway with the appropriate folks. I am praying for her safe return.

Yes, SAR has made 2 attempts to get to the lookout and got to within 400 feet, which I assume is the crossing from the col. They had to turn around because of avalanche danger. Whidbey NAS SAR is on standby to fly up there when the visibility and wind conditions improve, which isn't forecast until tomorrow night but they might have an earlier window.

NAS Whidbey has some awesome pilots. I hope they get their weather window and are able to find the lost hiker.

Good weather is on the way. Hopefully she's just riding it out in the lookout.

SAR reached the lookout a couple of hours ago and she wasn't there. From the family on Facebook:
Quote:
Minutes ago we learned that our sweet Rachel never arrived at the outlook tower. There’ll be a dog & personnel search for her tomorrow to look for her body. We are shocked beyond belief, appreciate everyone’s prayers, and now please allow us patience & understanding as we process through this difficult time. Please honor our privacy, and again, every prayer mattered. You mattered in our quest to find her. Love from our family to you.

Hi. Thank you so much for all of your support. I have been so impressed with the hiking community. Lots of love to you all. Sadly my sister was not there. Our spirits have been crushed. The weather is bad they have to send out dogs tomorrow. She went on her own merit despite warnings. We still dont understand why she went alone. We would never allow that if we knew the circumstances. I'm still in shock. Thanks for the prayers. Haley

God bless. Anything is possible. Dont lose hope. She is in my prayers. You all are.

I saw this from our local Moses Lake news and immediately came here to find out more. I'm so sorry to hear this. Praying for you all.

This sad. We spent a night in Hidden Lake Lookout in a November storm and I hoped it would be a haven. Best wishes and prayers.
