The top of Crystal looks nice at 6F and 38 mile per hour winds, gusting to 60mph. It is definitely coldest aloft but is very cold at all elevations east of and along the crest. This is the third such outbreak this October so it kind of seems it may be a recurring theme for at least a good part of the winter. There could be a few temperatures near 0F tonight. I recall an October 31st probably 18-22 years ago when I sat on top of Mt. Snoqualmie for two hours shirtless and not at all cool on my shady side. I believe it was about 70F. This year, however, we finally got our "Indian summer", although it is definitely not at all like summer.

I was surprised to read 26 degrees on my old school thermometer on a covered porch in West Seattle just a little while ago. Time to cover those outside faucets. ~z

There's been frost on the cars every morning in Eastlake, near downtown Seattle. Once winter starts (and it came early this year) sunny days mean cold nights, and very low humidity.

20 F at the trailhead when we started the hike to Silver Peak this morning, and very gusty on top, as predicted. Great visibility though.

I'm feeling optimistic, and am charging up my ebike. It is supposed to warm up to 39 here in the Sunny Okanogan. I used to ride my bike any day that temps were not down into single digits, or the roads icy. Hoping to toughen back up after many years spent on the wet side. It is Fall, eh?

What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

Yesterday at 1:30PM it was 18F at the Blue Lake trailhead -- I chose to NOT hike 2+ miles in the shade to the lake with my wife who is fighting a cold. However on Monday hiking the sunny half of the Heather Maple pass loop was pretty pleasant -- temp at Rainey Pass was 29F at 11:20AM -- but once we broke out into the sun it was pretty pleasant.
