I haven't heard too many reports of goats on Mailbox, but I have personally seen half a dozen on Mount Si and another one between Mount Washington and McClellan Butte, so I don't find it at all surprising that Mailbox could have them as well. I believe some of the Olympic National Park goats were dropped off at Preacher Mountain this summer, so based on the collar, I suspect that's where this goat came from.

I saw a collared goat on Alta recently, presumably relocated. Also saw a picture of a single-horned goat somewhere, can't remember where. Probably not the same one, but I don't know how common it is for them to lose one.

That's not a goat, it's a unicorn.

Fun fact, Mountain goats are actually not goats... https://video.nationalgeographic.com/video/00000156-27c8-d270-abd6-a7c814cf0000 https://www.nationalforests.org/blog/eight-facts-about-mountain-goats

A friend got a pic of that goat earlier this year up there I believe. Looks like it had an 'adventure' getting relocated from OlyPen but given that it's made it this far, it will likely be fine as long as it can stay out of more trouble.

They're all over that region. Mostly they find themselves on Mt. Si.

BPJ, yeah I recall seeing several goats on Si many years ago...more recently I've seen goat sign on the east side of mailbox.

Be wary of any goat with a collar. Olympic goats have attacked several people and killed one at least. I don’t think capturing them, etc, improved their attitudes. Hmm, bullets or bear spray to deter goat attacks? embarassedlaugh.gif

If you're in the know then you've heard these recent stories of goat activity down backside slopes of 'Box into that basin. No surprise they're starting to now encroach on the human areas

They've been spotted roaming the Gold Creek neighborhood in Snoqualmie Pass. There's signage up about them and how to judge your distance from one at the Gold Creek Pond TH.

I've seen goats on ledges up the Middle Fork this year so they are definitely in that area.
