This is west of Satus Pass and on a bump just east of Simcoe Butte at 4653.' I was out there to tag the highpoint of Klickitat County and came upon this. Looks like some Cold War radar facility? The building is solid concrete.

Unnamed bump east of Simcoe Butte.

Interior of structure. Seems like it was built to withstand a bomb.

No signage nor gate and a short spur is drivable to the top. Yakima tribal land boundary runs across the summit and is bordered by public land to the south.

Ah. Google.

I liked my idea better. It had that je ne c'est quoi, devil-may-care jauntiness about it.

Ive seen built to take a bomb. Old King Co Precinct #3, off Canyon St in Kent. Concrete feet thick. Originally built as civil defense HQ. Supposedly built and located to survive air bursts over Seattle & Bremerton.

This is not built to take a bomb.

Cool. I'm going to have to run up there and have a look. Fun afternoon adventure.

It's definitely an old microwave tower.  The platform would have supported a number of "horn" antennas.  I thought at first it might be one of the old AT&T "long line" sites, but Simcoe Butte doesn't seem to be on the list of such sites.
