This from the Wenatchee paper: https://www.wenatcheeworld.com/news/entiat-lookout-available-to-rent/article_22f328e2-04d0-11ea-b3cc-c3e5bd974918.html ENTIAT — People will now be able to stay the night inside of a lookout on a mountain near Entiat. The Steliko Lookout is available to rent as of Nov. 7, according to an Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest news release. The lookout accommodates up to four people, but no pets are allowed. It was built in 1947 and was retired in the mid-1990s due to more modern means of locating fires, such as aerial observation and satellites. The lookout can be accessed by vehicle during the summer and fall, according to the news release. But in the winter and spring the gate will be closed and visitors will need to hike, cross-country ski, snowmobile or snowshoe 1.6 miles from the Steliko Work Center. The lookout is $50 per night by donation, according to the news release. The donation will help fund maintenance and upkeep of the lookout.

I hope we get snow. Skiing or slowshoeing in would be a lot of fun, especially when everything is covered in a fresh coat of magic.

Does anyone know if there is a heat source in the lookout? This would be a super fun family winter adventure, especially if it's heated!

Why post worthless sarcasm? I did some internet searching, and found out that the lookout is insulated and heated. It has a two burner stove and has beds for four individuals. There is an outhouse 150 ft away. Here is a link to the most informative link I found: https://www.kpq.com/entiat-ranger-district-unveils-a-new-lookout-overnight-lodging-option/

That looks really nice, certainly a lot nicer than lookouts I've stayed in. Since it's so accessible I wonder how much company you'd have. Hopefully it's not a local party spot. Someone go rent it and report back on the mouse situation.

I went to Holden in September and stopped at Stiliko for a quick break. I did stop at Entiat Ranger Station and yakked with them.... Stiliko wasn't yet finished then, but looked really good when I visited. The ranger told me that Tyee lookout would be a rental next summer too. Probably too good to miss. cool.gif

That would be great. Nice views and it means the road would be maintained. Thus, access to the Tyee ridge trail and easy hiking out to Signal, Cougar Mt., and Mad Lake / Two little lakes area. Also, I think Mt. bikers are starting to use that trail a lot and they do trail maintenance on the stuff they ride. Not much water on those trails until you get out into the meadows and lakes but it is an under appreciated early season area.
