Nov. 21st: Lots of info out there for Corkscrew Peak. We possessed really none of it but I remembered needing to head for the spring identified on the south slope in the Topo.
Corkscrew Peak behind clouds
through the limestone cliff band
interesting
From near there we picked up a trail Jerry located along a spur ridge that led us rising through fog, sleet, and graupel squalls in a corkscrew fashion around the south side to the NE and a distinct summit ridge. 1st of what would become 4 significant precip events over the month of Nov.
arch below summit
sleet and graupel descent
falling snow visible at full size
garden
what is this?
unnamed spring with lots of sheep visitation
mountain fails to come out
Nov 22nd: This day was a partial repeat of a loop I did here: (https://www.nwhikers.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8026169) only this time in reverse in order to head over to Courtney Purcell's Artist Palette Peak 2230' and crossing back over Borax Benchmark in the opposite direction. It entails going up 20 Mule Team Canyon over Borax and descending Corkscrew Canyon.
untouched terrain above 20 Mule Team Canyon
cool forms, 20 Mule Team Canyon DVNP
staying off sensitive areas and in washes
the big plateau over Artist Palette
Black Mountains crest
Up over Borax BM
"Blue Mountain"...eludes me again
I'll call it Little Blue but I think DVDazed came up with it 1st
Above 20 Mule Team and Corkscrew Canyons
A beautiful but unfriendly looking ridge
Not an option to Blue Mountain, darn
Felt lofty
I remember climbing this miserable gully. It was so much better on descent!:
The right direction to do this gully!
almost into Corkscrew Canyon
