I've been to Lake Annette only 3 times. The first trip was in 1984 at age 29; my mother was visiting from Maine and we did this hike in the spring. There was some dirty snow at lake elevation. At the time my mother was 60 Y/O and I remember saying to her as we crossed one of the avalanche chutes, "come on ma, you look like an old lady." I was of course kidding her as she was quite active at 60. She did lots of volksmarching, played tennis and skied. We had a nice time that day in the outdoors. Next I took my then 12 Y/O niece in the summer, that was 24 years ago. And today I went with my daughter. I'm pleased to say that she didn't have to tell me I looked like an old man, probably because I had the pack with all of our stuff. This made for a nice winter hike, something we always do when she comes home for the holidays. Twas a little misty at times but the temperature felt mild. I remembered to pack along my ND filter and tripod to finally get some longer exposures of flowing water. Although the track was well packed, we were glad we had some traction; I using my studded trail runners and her some microspikes. Such a great way to close out the year. Happy New Year everyone.

-------------- "You run with me, not the other way around.” (Cassie re races)
I experienced the black flies constantly and viscously biting through thick wool gloves while camping there one spring. The only thing that saved my sanity was a mesh bug hat. We cooked dinner and ducked into our tents immediately afterwards.
