Snoqualmie to Stevens (ish) is a great trip that can be massively enhanced by way of side trips and especially by avoiding much of the PCT altogether. Red Pass- Goldmyer HS-Middle Fork-Williams-Tanks-Necklace Valley is one option. Lillian Ramparts-Lilas-East Alta-(Glacier)-Spectacle-Waptus-Ivanhoe-Dutch Miller- then Chain/Tanks/Iron Cap-Foss Lakes is another straight-forwardish option. There are dozens of short but incredibly scenic side trips; numerous route variations are possible walking from I90 to US2.

Any particular side trips you would recommend? Looks like an awesome area. The only thing holding me back are September PCT crowds - I would imagine there would be dozens of PCT hikers on the PCT at any point. The PCT looks awesome, but it sure does draw crowds!

You can expect dozens of thur hikers every day. PCT is best avoided in the fall. Its ok for short bits. Take time to look for campsites a bit further off the trail for privacy.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,I took the one less traveled by. And that has made all the difference. Robert Frost
