I’ve actually never been to Alice lakes, but I knew about them from various people who went through there. One of whom who got a ticket! (For being in watershed....)

That was half the fun (I'm in the photo). biggrin.gif We could see the depth was shallow and the ice was barely thick enough to support us. I had a stereotypical moment standing near the shore and seeing cracks radiate out from my boots with the appropriate cracking sounds. It was after coming down the summit so wet socks back to the car wouldn't have been a big deal.
