Not only is it my brother-in-law's 70th birthday, it's also a good reason to listen to Johnny Young and Lefty Diz playing this little ditty here:
"I shall wear white flannel trousers, and walk upon the beach.
I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each."

You would think so, but ...
“Gentle, vulnerable groundhogs are not barometers,” PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman said. “PETA is offering the club a win-win situation: Breathe life into a tired tradition and finally do right by a long-suffering animal.”
Instead of a live animal, PETA urges a switch to a “cutting-edge animatronic groundhog that could actually predict the weather using artificial intelligence instead.

^^^ That's ridiculously reactionary, even for PETA. I read somewhere that one incarnation of Punxsutawny Phil lived 22 years. Doubtful the average lifespan of a groundhog/marmot/woodchuck/whistlepig is half that.
Thanks for the tune, Ski. I figured you might come up with something appropriately titled.

Even PETA is not outraged, they are just grabbing a few free clickbait headlines.

GH Day is more popular than I thought. There's another thread started over in Trail Talk. Here's the prediction, straight from Gobbler's Knob:

Today Lake Michigan was 34.5 degrees at its southern end (Chicago), and the air was around 50, so of course, swimming was done. Skins, no wetsuits. Some amazing 5-minute swims.
Groundhog's job is getting difficult.
Ski, I've actually been to Buddy Guy's Legends, a thriving blues place. Thanks for the link.
