Lyrics? "Out on the water, down by the sea" or something. "Won't you come with me" maybe.... Male vocalists. Heard within the past 5 years, but I don't know how long the song's been out. I usually stop and write a song down if I hear one I like when I'm on the go, but I must have been in traffic only able to make a mental note.... I've been on YouTube looking for these specific lyrics... Not obvious. Been looking on and off for months. Please help!

Hum your tune into a mic/soundfile and upload it to https://www.watzatsong.com/en . . . and maybe you'll get your answer within a few minutes if it's a well known tune, and your humming is okay. (My own luck's been good, getting a couple of my own unknown-melody questions answered. Avg. time has been probably less than 5 minutes.) If you just hum it (w/o words), you can add your lyric guesses as a text comment.

I appreciate the responses! Thanks bk! Maybe I'll try that! catsp- The Decemberist's, that has a nice sound. Still searching.... There was two separate parts to that song. A good song, worth wracking a brain over?! Funny I remember listening to "Right Down The Line" by Gerry Rafferty. I wrote that one down on my hand at Blick Art Supplies maybe 6 years ago. I heard that one before while riding on the tailgate of a '74 matte forest green Chevy Blazer between the bay and open ocean near Burlingame, Rhode Island back in the 70's I was a kid. We'd sit maybe four of us on the tailgate dragging our feet in the sand while the 4x4 inched it's way to where our parents surf fished. You couldn't drive on the beach, there was a thru path between the grass lands and the berm of the beach. So vivid my memory of those fun times. The sh*t you remember and the sh*t you forget- Happy fifty secondth Brucester. lol.gif

Another wild guess ... kind of old, though. If this isn't it ... what kind of music was it? Pop, folk, blues ...??

"Under the Boardwalk" perhaps? As performed by the Drifters is the famous version.

Schenk, "Under the Boardwalk" seems like an obvious guess. Except the title of the tune "Under the Boardwalk" is repeated as the main lyric throughout the tune. It would have been memorable, and findable. It must be something else.

La Mer...Bobby Darin. I am old enough to remember when it was a hit.

I suspect Stefan is correct, but it also could be this one by the Velvet Underground. (I love this demo version, with John Cale on the keyboard. He had left the band and hated Lou Reed at that point, but somehow was persuaded to lay down a keyboard track. It's much better than other versions of the song).

Great ideas, as always! Not Men At Work, or The Velvet Underground or The Waterboys. All great bands worth a listen. The Velvet Underground, kinda fascinating. Waterboys Fisherman's Blues is a favorite one by them. In the 2000's not CCR or classic rock bands. Not an obvious water song. And I don't think I'm confusing words in lyrics. Although ELO's Don't bring me down sounds like Bruce more than groos! Not sure on Genre, soft rockish. I'll have to think more on that. I distinctly remember one guy singing lyrics I can't remember in a different tone and then the chorus? sang "down on the water....." It's really quite a good song I'm thinking. You just feel it. embarassedlaugh.gif Maybe there's a if you "come with me" or something.
