Short steep n sweet trip off of 97. Parked just outside of town and walked up the FS road a short ways before heading into the woods. From there we followed a ridge E-NE for 1000' vertical up to the summit. Great views of Stuart and the Chants. Red Top LO is also visible if you know where to look. If you head this way, make sure you consult a map to ensure you stay on public land. Beautiful day.

That looks like fun! I know the area well but have never heard of this mountain. Could you maybe just say which town it is outside of? confused.gif

Scouted this yesterday but did not climb. A thin strip of private land along Boulder Creek bears a steady string of "No Trespassing" signs. mad.gif However, there is one break in the middle with no signs. In that break, a very short logging road starts east and then turn north, just a few hundred yards to a borrow pit. This is actually private land as well, but apparently owned by a logging company and not a shotgun-toting local. Up above on the slope, there are the small yellow signs designating NF land behind, meaning I crossed unmarked private land to get to the signs. My old Green Trails map shows a ridiculous thin strip of public land that actually does connect the Boulder Creek Road to the summit of Flag, but I am not sure whether I was north or south of it on the little logging road. I wasn't getting any cell reception there. Has anyone climbed Flag from the NE? That would be from the Williams Creek side, following road 114 according to my map. Looks like a lot better approach!

I did this earlier this year as a snowshoe trip and continued on to Lion Rock. Lovely area.

Sculpin, I made the short walk from the NE side in 2016. I don't remember exactly where I parked, but I likely went up from the 122 road wherever it looked most open to get to the top. No access issues at that time.

Thanks Abert. Since all the land is public on that side, and the approach from the Boulder Creek side is steep and brushy anyway, I'm thinking I will go that way next April to see the Douglasia in bloom.
