Hey long time! I just started a blog to put all my crazy hiking stories in. Today I am starting a 273 mile backpack in New Zealand and I will be posting all my ridiculous misadventures about it. Feel free to follow along it’s already getting weird! Gtfoutside.com -Granolagirl Now Grownasswoman

Good to see you back on NWHikers! Your reports were always enjoyable. I'm curious to see what you're up to in NZ.

Sounds like a wonderful adventure! I hiked a tiny portion of it last year when I was on the South Island. Are you familiar with Walking with Wired? (www.walkingwithwired.com) She wrote about her experience on the Te Araroa a few years ago. Plus some long trails in Australia and Tasmania. Lots of good intel in her posts. Plus highly entertaining, as I am sure yours will be as well! up.gif

I remember reading stories of a group getting zapped (to death I think) in those caves during a lightning storm
I think that Half Dome cave story might be told in Bob Madgic's book Shattered Air Looking forward to tales from Te Araroa. up.gif

I'd be a great climber if I wasn't afraid of heights.
