My first attempt on Jim Hill was a failed winter climb that brought us to the false summit. My successful endeavor was with a November 20 climb that worked the southern slope to reach the true summit five hours after leaving the car.
Nice work! We snowshoed up to the lake two Mondays ago after a weekend storm which had dumped a foot of new powder. So much snow up there!
We were lucky because a couple of skiers had made a track which was easy to follow. We met them on the way back and they said they have a route that they usually follow on the ridge west of Jim Hill, but that day the avalanche danger was too high.
