My wife and I have throttled back on getting the house ready to sell....originally we were departing for Europe on April 9, but that obviously isn't going to happen. The less frantic pace means I can take some days to recreate, all within the bounds of social distancing of course. I decided to tick off another peak in Rainier and enjoyed a skin/ski to Cowlitz Rocks. I throttled back a bit when I discovered I had left my liquid replenishment in the fridge, stopping occasionally to suck on hopefully clean snow. I figured I'd be OK as this is not a lengthy trip, less than 8 miles with @2400' climb. It was quite toasty today as I expected. Now I must admit, I did not stand on the summit proper. I went as high as I could safely, stopping at the last bit with a greater than 30 degree slope and sketchy snow....I did not have an ice axe and my ski boots weren't the best scrambling up the frozen rocks. This is my first real trip after retiring and I didn't want to start out with a possible tumble. I'm calling it good enough tho some will surely disagree. I get a handicap due to my advanced age, just like in golf. Sure felt good to get out on such a glorious day, with the best views towards Little T, Adams, St Helens and the Tatoosh Range.

My favorite of all the Cascades! up.gif wink.gif Well done, and a "mulligan" is always accepted, especially with such a fine report. Good fortune on your house selling, retirement is indeed a pleasure.

Sorry to hear your trip to Europe is being postponed, but obviously it’s a blessing that you and your wife weren’t already over there. Plenty to do in our own beautiful Pacific Northwest, as your beautiful photos attest to!
