Town and the valley are busy with people like nothing is different. I have still been working part-days at school in Cashmere with meals distribution and bilingual parent communication for internet access for students. ANYWAY, today is Saturday and no lift-served skiing, so time to head up the Icicle. There is no longer any berm/sawhorse barricade on the Icicle road. I drove easily past 4th of July TH, close to Johnny Creek campground. Early morning it's solid packed snow/ice, but by the afternoon, sun-softened and rutted by those that insist on trying their luck to press further. I saw a low-slung Tesla make it as far as Johnny Creek and a Subaru stuck just past there. Talked to a happy young fellow from Colorado, FS employee, who summited Grindstone and spent the night in a snow cave up there. I descended to the old road Ida Creek CG and then on the new road to just shy of Chatter Creek. Great Day!
