Schroder....there was a hotel for the wealthy at Moore Point on Lake Chelan too. I've tried to find info about it but unsuccessful so far. I've camped on the very flat open area where it once was a couple times. The remains around the area are still evident. There's what's left of the orchard, some old wooden wire wrapped water lines, stone walls and exotic plants there. We've snacked on the cilantro they planted and is now running wild in the area.
Old hotels are gone but not forgotten....

Wow, that would have been an amazing experience to go somewhere so remote back then and stay in a place like the Big Four Inn. I love the idea of having railroads instead of highways in places like the Mountain Loop! It'd be great to be able to hop on a train to get to a trail head instead of have to drive there. No parking/trailhead vandalism worries, no road noise on front country hikes..... it's a shame we settled on personal vehicles as our primary method of transportation.
