I have this insurance: https://www.nwmedstar.org It has reciprocal agreements with Airlift Northwest and several others. The service covers Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Oregon. As I recall it is pretty cheap, something like $150 for two years??

If you're "extra" lucky and get taken to Harborview, you will also be charged for the one minute aid car transport from the helicopter pad to the Emergency Department. ;-)
The one minute shuttle to the HMC ER is actually via private ambulan$e.

Fun Fact. Until 1911 Ambulance Worker was a Boy Scout merit badge. Now it's called First Aid.

My friend got a SAR lift off of Chair Peak cliff 2 years ago. It was indeed free. He wasn't injured though, just got stuck. They dropped him off at Alpental parking lot. You can watch the whole thing right here: http://www.kiro7.com/news/risky-rescue-snoqualmie-pass-saves-hiker/81752060 If you are in danger in the wilderness, don't hesitate to call!! He is lucky he had cell service. I carry my Delorme inReach with me always.

Always out there.

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-36593991 Hope that dude had his airlift insurance paid up... haha. Two twin otters. Each one, from its starting point in Canada to the pole(or near the pole for the backup), and ultimately back to Canada, each flying an equivalent distance of almost around the world. $$

...for helicopter insurance enthusiasts The message for Life Flight Network members seems to be: Pray that both your short-term and long-term memory is intact enough so that, before accepting help in times of ultimate distress, you are able to recite the $40,000-phrase "My preference is for 'Life Flight Network'." Life. Flight. Network. - - - or, if cash is not a current issue, cover your bets by also joining Airlift Northwest. - - - if time is not an issue, do more research on rogue out-of-network helicopter services. Join those too. - - - (Highlights and emphasis are my own.)
Quote:
March 26, 2020 This letter is to notify you of a change to Life Flight Network’s reciprocal partnerships in Washington. Dear Life Flight Network Member, We have an important update about your Life Flight Network membership. Seattle-based air ambulance provider Airlift Northwest (ALNW) recently notified us it has chosen to terminate the reciprocal agreement between ALNW and Life Flight Network for membership services. That means ALNW will no longer honor Life Flight Network memberships, nor will it allow its members to be covered if transported by Life Flight Network. ALNW made this decision without any input or discussion with Life Flight Network. It’s a deeply disappointing decision at a time when insurers are refusing to pay claims in full, and more and more patients are confronted with high-deductible health plans. Healthcare providers should be looking for ways to collaborate to benefit patients, not making choices that hurt the communities we serve. We want to assure you of our continued commitment to protecting you. As a member of Life Flight Network, you’re already enrolled in THE number one way to protect your household from out-of-pocket costs in the event of an air medical transport. Life Flight Network has the largest service area of any air ambulance program in the Pacific Northwest. We’re also proud to have the most reciprocal agreements in the region, including partnerships with Air St. Luke’s, Care Flight, Enloe Flight Care, and Classic Air Medical. Your membership protects you and your household from out-of-pocket costs in the event an insurer refuses to provide sufficient reimbursement for life-saving air ambulance services. We believe in reciprocal agreements because we’re committed to people, not profits. For more than 42 years, we’ve been a Pacific Northwest-based not-for-profit with a mission to provide critical care transportation in a safe, compassionate, efficient, and expeditious manner. While other air ambulance providers have sold to for-profit corporations, we’ve remained owned by a nonprofit consortium of hospitals. Why does this matter? Because our not-for-profit status allows us to remain committed to doing what’s in the best interest of the communities we serve, rather than the best interest of shareholders. For this reason, we will continue to partner with other health care providers to benefit you – the patient. And we’ll always welcome reciprocal agreements with any air medical provider. While Life Flight Network members can still have the financial peace of mind membership provides, we want you to be aware if you are transported by a company that is not a reciprocal partner, you could receive a bill. You have the right to protect yourself from out of pocket expenses for air medical transport by requesting Life Flight Network. If you need medically necessary emergent air ambulance transport, ask for Life Flight Network by name. If you have any questions about the impact of ALNW’s decision or about your membership, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our membership office at 800-982-9299. We appreciate the chance to continue serving you and your community with high quality, compassionate critical care. We promise to always be there when you need us. Sincerely, Michael Griffiths Chief Executive Officer, Life Flight Network

We received the same letter. We subscribe to two services. One is the helicopter and the other is fixed-wing. The EMT's make the call at the time so you don't have to decide when you're having cardiac arrest. wink.gif My friend runs the fixed wing service and he's working on solutions.
